OPENING EVENT SUNDAY SEPTEMBER 19, 2010 2PM [SEP 19 -- OCT 3, 2010] SONIA ESMILDA ANDÚJAR Bilingual lead organizer for this event. My watercolor paintings show the diversity of human faces as they communicate their inner world through facial expressions. I have taken a few watercolor lessons but basically I am teaching myself using public library resources. I also like to play chess. JOAQUIN INCHAUSTEGUI I attended Hampshire College where I studied film, photography & social change. Since film is such a privileged art form I focus on digital photography because of its re-usability. The focal point of my photography is people, places & empowering communities to voice their opinions regarding social change. KENCAID HEADLEY I am a local wood burning artist born in Cambridge MA. My artistic career began in grade school after winning a second place award for an abstract drawing. I draw a picture free hand, with a soldering iron and then complete the painting with acrylic using a paper clip. It takes up to 8 months to complete one of my art pieces. I have display my work at Citizens Bank Central Square, Harvard Vanguard Kenmore, Cambridge City Hall, and the Middle East Restaurant in Cambridge. SUZANNE ZAMPROGNE At age 13 my mother introduced me to art in Brazil but it was as an adult and living in the USA that I discovered I could paint well. I paint in oil and mixed media. I got my law degree in Brazil and love to play the piano. YVES DARIUS I began metal sculpture in 1976 in my village Croix-Des-Bouquets in Haiti. I transform 55-gallon steel oil drums using a hammer and chisel into all types of creative sculptures. After the earthquake in January 12, 2010 I am trying to rebuild my small studio and my daughter Merline is helping me since I don't speak English. My work has been showcased at the Sanctuary Int'l Crafts Fair Channing Way and in the Berkeley Daily planet newspaper California. KATHY WATKINS I was one of the people who helped get ACT up and running. My favorite things to draw are cats and if you let, me I will tell you all about my own cat Cricket. I have also just started creating art on my computer. SHERRI TUCKER My main childlike artwork is part of my healing process. I use large size child's crayons on drawing paper, letting go and seeing what comes up. I make colored 8X10 reproductions to sell. I also take photographs, mainly of trees, which I use in my annual holiday art along with poems I write to go with selected photos. ANDRE WILBUR I studied with Petion Savain, the father of Haitian Art at Fontamara, Port-au Prince. I am a member of the Haitian Artists in MA and have displayed at the State House and some of my works are held in private collections and at Cambridge Hospital. I am also a classical guitarist and composer for the musical group Bichet Lakay. PARTICIPATING POETS: LIZ FENTON EVELYN TONER RICHIE BEMBERY RICHARD SHEINGOLD
