In front of the organizing committee of this tournament, for me is a special honor and pleasure to be a moderator at the opening ceremony. My name is Darko Dimitrijevic, and since year 1984. I am the chess FIDE Master. On behalf of the Organizing Committee I welcome all of present here: - Players and members of their families, chess coaches and other accompanying persons and guests of the tournament. - Representatives of the city of Pula, - President of the Sports Association of Pula - And our special guests which I will announce shortly. For 24 years in a row (in May or June) we held in Pula, the most famous, the most popular, the most recognizable and largest single open chess tournament in Croatia. With a tradition of almost ¼. century, has participated the thousands of players and their companions from over 100 countries. Number of participants and their companions in each of these tournaments, it varied within the limits from 300 up to 600. This year, we are proud to notify you with a total of 283 registered players from 23 countries. Our tournament, PULA OPEN, has become known around the world and a number of daily visits at our website and your presence here show us and proves what I just mentioned above. I would like to thank the Tourist Association City of Pula, Sports Association of City of Pula, the City of Pula, Istrian County, Croatian Chess Federation, Chess Federation of Istrian County, Arenaturist, and all others for financial assistance in organizing this event. And now, ladies and gentlemen, it is my honor and privilege to introduce to you our special guests of this 24th open tournament. Our first guest is one of our mentors and our teachers. He is the man who marks an epoch. He is a person that we were taught and he still teaches us to become better chess players and most importantly, better human being. His legacy is infinite. After all, he is a chess legend and today he is here with us! And now, ladies and gentlemen, the warmest greetings and welcome to the 10th World Chess Champion (1969 -- 1972) and on 7 occasions the World Chess Championship candidate - Mr. Boris Vasilievich Spassky. In front of the chess club, "Pula" from Pula, a plaque to Mr. Spassky has been given by Mr. Denis Vretenar, longtime director of this tournament. Movie Part II -- 24th International Chess Tournament -- Pula 2010. Our next guest is a youngster. I apologize to him by calling him with this name because he may be not only my son, but almost my grandson. I am daring to address him wrongly, because I can be his mentor in many, many things but one I certainly cannot. I cannot be his chess mentor. He is Croatian, he is European and he is the World Junior Champion. Also, he is latest Senior Champion of Republic of Croatia. He is only 19th year old, but he is not anymore a youngster. He is a nice looking young person with proven brilliant intelligence, he is a beloved spouse and father too. Actually, he does everything so quickly and so well. In fact, he is The Chess Mozart! And now, ladies and gentlemen, the warmest greetings and welcome to the stage to the Winner of our last, 23rd International Chess Open Tournament -- Pula 2009., Grandmaster Ivan Saric. Our next guest and the first representative from the Latin American continent came from the Republic of Chile. This is his first appearance at our tournament. His name is Daniel Yarur Elsaca. Mr. Yarur is an engineer, economist, accountant, auditor, academic and scientist. Mr. Yarur is Chilean businessman and former Superintendent of Securities and Insurance of the Government of President of Chile; Eduardo Frei Ruiz-Tagle. And now, ladies and gentlemen, the warmest greetings and welcome to the stage for our guest from The Republic of Chile, Mr. Daniel Yarur Elsaca. Our next guest and second representative from the Latin American continent, which for the first time will participate in our Tournament, is a grandmaster Felgaer Ruben from Argentina. And now, ladies and gentlemen, the warmest greetings and welcome to the stage for our guest from Argentina, Grandmaster Felgaer Ruben. And now, I would like to ask the Representative of the city of Pula, Superintendent for Sport of City of Pula, Mr. ERIK LUKSIC to officially open the 24th International Chess Open Tournament - Pula 2010. Chief Arbiter of this tournament is International Chess Arbiter, Mr. Sulejman Islamovic. And now, the International Chess Arbiter, Mr. Mladen Bratosevic will explain briefly Tournament's Regulation.
