IBM's Deep Blue won the legendary chess game, but it was an expensive and bulky supercomputer. For a more homely setting, the Robochess, which is a low-budget high-performance chess-playing robot, can provide equal fun. On a specially made chess board with magnetic sensors, the robot is able to track the movement of chess pieces. Relying on about 6500 lines of C code, the robot is able to recognize moves, physically pick up the pieces and make moves. It can even detect moves which are not allowed and undo the move. This creative design is the brainchild of Ebrahim Jahandar. For more readings and videos on creative designs and concepts, visit http://www.99fallingapples.com
